Sarah Grigorov from Cayuga Heights School in Ithaca is another Apple for the Teacher Award recipient nominated by Maria Connell.
Dear Apple for the Teacher judges,
First and foremost, thank you so very much for creating and sustaining this award each year. We, as educators, are so appreciative of your recognition and support!!!
Here is my entry:
Sarah Grigorov, Special Education Speech Teacher and co-advisor of the Go Green Team at Cayuga Heights, is a progressive but realistic educator who leads by example. She spends her own money to buy compost buckets for every classroom and volunteers to clean many at the end of every day (YUCK)! When I ask her if I can help, she just smiles and says, "But I want to. These are baby steps. Baby steps. Others will join in soon. You'll see." If she won the Apple for the Teacher, I'm sure she'd share it and then turn around and compost it!
