Here is Tanisha’s entry to the question “Why do you want to be a ‘Witness to History’?”:

Why be witness to history? Well this is no mystery!
I wish to experience the right … a man, neither black nor white, did fight

The HOPE of change he spread … “They may end him”, I thought with dread.

Intrigue me, he did.

Obama – who?
I hadn’t a clue…

Why be witness to history? Well this is no mystery!

I wish to live what some have only have dreamt … understand what leaders past have meant

The HOPE of change he spread … “The light has not yet gone dim”, though kindred spirits are long dead.

The light is not hid.

Obama – perchance?
He may have his dance…

Why be witness to history? Well this is no mystery!
I wish to see
The HOPE to be
For men have died
To unify
Perhaps a man
Not black nor white
Can be the change
Put fear to flight … be rid of night
Perhaps … freedom will ring
Perhaps … it may even sing

Why NOT be witness to HISTORY?

Why NOT be witness to LIFE?
